We just had our first rain in about 3 months. We had a very late summer and here in September it seems like it has gone by really fast. These past couple weeks we have been hand watering our trees every day. We have irrigation set up for about half of our trees but because we did not put the correct piping in, a lot has to be redone. A big problem was using drip tape in our lanes. The coyotes at night rip that stuff up to shreds and cause huge leaks in our lines which was a huge problem. We also did not have our design right on our piping in the beginning which caused a lack in water flow and pressure. We have since fixed that. Overall our trees are doing very well and we will be able to see a crop in these next couple years! Another fun project we have been doing is cleaning up the pond on the property to have it look more presentable when we open the place up to the public. We drained the pond about half way and are going to build an island in the middle where we can barbeque, fish, and enjoy! The trees we planted this year are producing little apples. I think this is because they still think they are on a bigger tree. After this year they will focus more on growing bigger rather than producing any apples. Still cool to see though!
